Rachel Cooper grew up in a modest suburb of the Midwest, where the scent of simmering stews and the rhythm of Sunday family dinners were as familiar as the backroads she rode as a child. Her grandmother’s kitchen—spattered with flour and the faint hum of a radio—was a place of experiment and tradition, where a simple pot of beans could become a culinary masterpiece. An early memory that still lingers is the day Rachel, at twelve, swapped her school lunch for a bowl of her grandmother’s chili, noting the way the broth sang with the earthy aroma of cumin and the gentle crackle of a wood‑fire stove.

Rachel’s culinary path was forged by the intersection of heritage and curiosity. She studied culinary arts at the Culinary Institute of America, but her real education came from the kitchens of her family: the way her mother folded dough with the same care as a quilt, the way her father’s fried chicken taught her that texture can be as telling as flavor. These experiences instilled in her a belief that comfort food, when approached with respect and imagination, can be both nourishing and transformative.

Today, Rachel channels that philosophy into Mealjourney, a platform she launched in 2024 that celebrates the stories behind dishes. She sees each recipe as a narrative thread—an invitation to reconnect with loved ones and to honor the past while creating new traditions. What drives her is the joy of sharing those stories, one comforting plate at a time.
I believe that food should be honest, unpretentious, and rooted in the stories that make us human. The kitchen is a place where authenticity is the truest seasoning.
